The purpose of the Miami County Reserve program is to allow currently certified EMT’s, AEMT’s, and paramedics
the ability to obtain EMS experience, on a volunteer basis, without the commitment of part-time or full-time employment.
Members of the reserve squad are employees of Miami County EMS in all aspects except that they are not paid for their time.
Reserve squad members will be required to complete the new hire process including an interview, physical agility, physical
and drug screening. Members of the reserve squad will be required to attend an academy and successfully complete orientation
before being released to independent duty.
Once released from orientation, reserve squad members may act as a second crewmember on an ambulance, ride along as a third
crewmember on an ambulance, or provide coverage for stand-bys. Reserve squad members are required to volunteer a minimum of
24 hours of time per month to Miami County EMS. Members may volunteer additional time if they wish to.
The Reserve Squad will meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of each month. This meeting is to provide an opportunity
for the squad to meet as a group and discuss opportunities and issues. Members of the Reserve Squad will also be required
to attend any mandatory meetings or training and may attend any other optional training provided by Miami County EMS.
