Miami County
EMS staffs
3 advanced life support
(ALS) ambulances daily with a minimum of 1 paramedic and 1 EMT on each
ambulance. Our crews are on-duty 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and prepared to
respond to any emergency or request for assistance. We also have a
Battalion Chief on-duty 24 hours a day to respond to calls as needed to
assist crews.
Miami County
EMS currently
responds out of 2
stations. Station 141 is located just south of Paola at 32765 Clover Drive
and houses 2
ambulances and the Battalion Chief. Station 142 is located in the
Louisburg Fire Department at 205 South Metcalf and houses 1 ambulance as well
as a reserve ambulance.
In addition
to EMS response, we have fire department first
response from the Louisburg Fire Department, Osawatomie/Fontana Fire
Department, Paola Fire Department, Drexel Fire Department, Wellsville Fire
Department and Johnson County Fire District #2. Johnson County Fire
District #2 is able to
respond with an ambulance when needed such as when our own resources have been
depleted. All of the First Responder agencies can provide immediate BLS
care until our crews arrive.
In 2014, Miami County
EMS responded to 3,198
requests for an ambulance, or about 8.77 calls per day. The average
response time from the time the 9-1-1 call was received by the dispatcher until
the time we were on scene was 9 minutes 21 seconds. We are always looking at
ways to improve response times to all citizens in a primarily rural county of
590 square miles with a population of about 32,000.
